Frequently asked questions

Riders

Where does CampusRide operate?

On the University of Ghana campus at Legon and the areas close to it. The app tells you if a pickup or drop-off is outside the service area.

How much does a ride cost, and how do I pay?

The fare is fixed and shown in the app before you book. Shared rides cost less than private ones. You pay the driver in cash at the end of the trip, so please carry small change.

What is a shared ride?

Other riders going your way can join the car, up to four riders in total. Your fare never goes up because others join. If you'd rather ride alone, choose a private ride.

How do I know it's the right car?

Before you get in, check that the driver's name, photo, car and number plate match what the app shows.

Can I cancel?

Yes, in the app before the trip starts. There's no cancellation fee. If you don't show up within a few minutes of the driver arriving at your pickup, the driver may cancel your pickup.

What does the SOS button do?

During a trip, SOS texts your emergency contact (if you've added one) and CampusRide a private link to follow your trip. It doesn't call the police or an ambulance: for those, call 112. Add an emergency contact in the app under Account → Safety.

I left something in the car.

Email or call us with the date and time of the trip and what you lost, and we'll contact the driver.

I didn't get my sign-in code.

Check the phone number, make sure you have signal, and wait a minute before asking for a new code. If it still doesn't arrive, contact us.

Drivers

How do I become a driver?

Install the CampusRide Driver app, sign up with your phone number, then add your car's make, model, colour and number plate and a clear photo of yourself. CampusRide reviews your details, and you can go online once you're approved. You must be 18 or older with a valid driving licence, a roadworthy registered car and insurance that covers carrying passengers.

Why does the Driver app need my location all the time?

While you're online, the app shares your position with the riders on your trip and keeps you matched with nearby requests, even when you switch to another app or the screen is off. It stops as soon as you go offline. See the Privacy Policy.

How do I get paid?

Riders pay you the fare in cash at the end of each trip. CampusRide's commission is shown in the app, and we'll tell you how to pay it.

Your account

How do I change my name or phone number?

Riders can change their name in the app under Account. To change a phone number, or a driver's details, contact us.

How do I delete my account?

In the app: Account → Delete account. Without the app: email support@campusride.app. Full details on the account deletion page.

What do you do with my data?
